Goa has one of the highest number of vehicles per person anywhere in india and also one of the highest borrowings from the central government. So though the central government reduced the petrol and diesel prices in October 2017, the goa government refused to reduce the prices of the vehicle fuels and the chief minister was quoted in the media as saying that goa has the lowest prices of petrol and diesel in India.
It is a good move of the goa government as the tax collection in goa has reduced by 22% after GST according to media reports and the government requires the money for various expenses. If the prices of petrol and diesel are higher , young people will stop driving their vehicles rashly and without a valid reason for fun.
The RTO office in panaji, goa was burned down after a fire started in a nearby supermarket in October 2017.
Earlier the media reported that there was a slight reduction in the vehicle registrations on Dussehra 2017, compared to Dussehra 2016 at the RTO office, indicating that economic conditions in goa are not very good
